Welcome to my blog!  I’m Patrick Dwyer, an autistic autism researcher at La Trobe University.  As one of the increasing number of people with a foot in both the autistic community and the academic community, I’m able to draw on my personal experiences as an autistic person, on the knowledge that I’ve gained in my studies and in my reading of the research literature, on what I’ve learned as a member of the growing community of autistic adults, and sometimes on my speculations and theories.

Thus, I hope I’m able to offer some interesting insights about autism, autism research, neurodiversity, and issues in autistic people’s lives.

I’ve also written some stuff you’ll find elsewhere on the Internet.  For a list of these things, click HERE.

Why do I call myself “autistic” and not a “person with autism”?  If you haven’t heard about identity-first language, click HERE.

If you have gmail or Outlook 365, and want updates when I post something new, click HERE to find out how to set those updates up.
